Drivers in Statesville should expect temporary traffic changes beginning Monday as crews work to repair storm pipes near Japul Road.

City officials say that starting Monday, March 9, weather permitting, a contractor will begin repairs on two storm pipes that will impact traffic in the area.

During the first phase of the project, Beauty Street will be closed at Japul Road while crews complete repairs. Drivers will need to follow alternate routes, including Joe Road to Japul Road to Beauty Street, or Joe Road to Council Avenue.

Once that work is complete, the second repair will shift to Joe Road at Japul Road. During that phase, motorists are advised to detour using Japul Road to Beauty Street to Council Avenue to Joe Road.

Officials say each repair is expected to take about three days to complete.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling through the area while crews are working.
