MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A break-in investigation in Iredell County led to the arrest of a Canadian man after deputies discovered a blood trail inside a home and linked him to a second attempted burglary nearby.
According to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell, deputies responded Friday, May 1, 2026, to a reported breaking and entering at a residence on Lakeshore Drive in Mooresville. A neighbor, aware the homeowners were out of town, contacted authorities after noticing suspicious activity and possible signs of forced entry.
When deputies arrived, they observed that a rear sliding glass door had been removed from its track. While conducting a protective sweep of the home, officers discovered evidence of a blood trail throughout the residence. Detectives with the Crime Scene Investigation Unit were called in to process the scene.
Investigators later learned of suspicious activity the night before, April 30. Witnesses reported seeing lights on inside the home, the garage door open, and a man acting erratically near the property. One resident also reported hearing screaming.
During the investigation, deputies uncovered a second incident involving an attempted break-in at a home on Viewpoint Drive in Mooresville.
Authorities were able to track the suspect to a nearby Airbnb property, where they made contact with a man matching witness descriptions. He was still wearing the same clothing seen on surveillance footage from the Viewpoint Drive incident.
The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Cameron John Walker of Dorchester, Ontario. Deputies noted he had injuries consistent with evidence found at the Lakeshore Drive scene and took him into custody.
Walker was arrested and charged in connection with both incidents. Magistrate Callejas set his bond at $75,000 secured.
The investigation remains ongoing
