Taylorsville Man Arrested, Accused of Assaulting Officer with Firearm

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A Taylorsville man is facing serious charges after authorities say he assaulted a law enforcement officer with a firearm.


According to the Alexander County Sheriff's Office, Jonathan Anthony St. John, 45, of Paul Payne Store Road in Taylorsville, was arrested Sunday, May 3.


St. John is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm and assault by pointing a gun.


Officials say he was taken into custody without incident and placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.


A court appearance was scheduled for Monday, May 4.


No additional details about the circumstances leading to the charges have been released.
