Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges in Taylorsville

TAYLORSVILLE, NC — A routine traffic stop in Taylorsville led to multiple charges, including drug offenses, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Taylorsville Police Department, an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Liledoun Road displaying a fictitious license plate not registered to the vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated.
The driver was identified as Eric David Cad McAlister. A check of his driving record revealed his license was suspended, with multiple pending charges for Driving While License Revoked. He was taken into custody at the scene.
During a search incident to arrest, officers located a baggie containing methamphetamine in McAlister’s possession. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered multiple uncapped needles and additional drug paraphernalia.
The vehicle was towed, and McAlister was transported to the Alexander County Detention Center, where he appeared before a magistrate.
He now faces charges including possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while license revoked. He was also cited for a fictitious tag and revoked registration.
