A Troutman woman is facing dozens of charges after authorities say she stole scratch-off lottery tickets from her employer and used the winnings to continue the scheme.

On May 5, 2026, officers responded to the Quality Mart on North Main Street in Statesville following a reported employee theft. The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit.

Investigators determined that 29-year-old Tiffany Carroll of Troutman had been stealing scratch-off lottery tickets from the business beginning in late April while working there. Detectives say Carroll then used winnings from the stolen tickets to obtain cash and purchase additional lottery tickets, continuing the pattern.

As a result of the investigation, warrants were obtained charging Carroll with:

  • 5 counts of Larceny by Employee

  • 36 counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses

Carroll was arrested and taken before a magistrate, where she was issued a $100,000 secured bond.
