Employees observed a male suspect, later identified as Ronnie Parson Sparks, 37, of Lexington, remove a DeWalt battery pack and cut off the anti-shoplifting device in the store restroom. Sparks attempted to exit the store, triggering the security alarm, and fled in a vehicle.

Deputies located and stopped Sparks a short distance away. Stolen items recovered included a 4-pack of DeWalt batteries and a pair of pliers, valued at $398.16. Sparks was charged with:

  • Misdemeanor larceny

  • Driving while license revoked
